District Judge Gregory Werner has granted Letecia Stauch’s lawyers requests to postpone her November 12th court hearing on the second psych evaluation to a date set after December 14th.
At issue was the fact that the sheriff had to shut down the El Paso County Jail, keeping out everybody who isn’t an involuntary resident or voluntary worker, after the COVID-19 outbreak sent 690 inmates to the infirmary.
Due to Letecia’s Stauch’s legal team and Dr. Jackie Grimmett, the psychiatrist who will be evaluating her, not being involuntary residents or voluntary workers at the jail, they were denied access to the facility and everything and everybody in it.
Therefore, in keeping with the letter of the law, the judge went ahead and granted the defense’s motion to give Dr. Jackie Grimmett more time to determine whether Letecia Stauch is in her right mind to attend trial.
The extra time won’t help the defense, though, because the judge will have the final say.
And I have a feeling the fact that 11-year-old Gannon Stauch can’t sit in a courtroom and tell everybody who killed him will be enough for the judge to greenlight the trial that will determine whether Letecia Stauch is the reason why Gannon Stauch is unable to tell everybody who killed him.
